Palindrome
Is the start like the end
or just the beginning of
the end of the beginning?
I look at you and it’s like
I’ve known you before in
the after time
The ‘before’ I knew you
when you knew me
before anyone else did
Is life on constant rewind
or are we all just
standing still
pretending we remembered
anything at
all?
Memories are falling
telling a story of what
we thought we knew
from the start.
Phu-Linh Tran is a Melbourne based poet, freelance writer, visual artist and spoken word performer.
Linh won The Spirit of the Festival Award at the end of the 2019 Melbourne Spoken Word Festival alongside local poet Hamish Danks-Brown and was shortlisted for the 2019 Melbourne Spoken Word Prize. She has appeared as a featured poet at Be Mused, Fresh Voices, Poetryspective, Passionate Tongues, Radio Laria, The Dan O’Connell and The Cherry Tree Hotel.
She has been published in literary journals LiteLitOne, Unusual Works, Farrago and Meuse Press and in several Australian anthologies including Melbourne Poet Union’s Finding My Feet in 2024.
